Aloe Vera is a very huge part of the flora of Rajasthan ( The desert state of India). We consume Aloe Vera in many forms here. It is used raw in curing many skin care diseases and is consumed in the form of a curry to cure many systematic diseases. The juice of this particular cactus is good for both, your skin and internal organs.
In this post I am going to talk about the benefits Aloe Vera has on our skin. I will also state some of my home remedies for skin and hair care. At the end of the post is a giveaway for all the people crazy about skin care products.
Aloe Vera and Skin Care:-
Known as the ‘Plant of Immortality’ by the ancient Egyptians this plant of the Asphodelaceae family has been used as a medicinal plants for centuries. It is a cactus and is therefore very common in the deserts.
Here are some benefits and DIY tips regarding the use of Aloe Vera:-
To treat Sunburns:-
Aloe Vera gel when applied over the effected area helps in restoring the damaged epithelium and moisturizes the skin helping it heal faster.
TIP– chop open a leaf of Aloe Vera and collect the gel in a small container. Add few drops of distilled rose-water to the gel and apply on the skin for protection from the sun.
2. Improves digestion:-
Many digestive disorders are known to cause acne and patchy skin. Aloe Vera is said to regulate your digestive system. It is also said to heal gastric ulcers. In Ayurveda it is also prescribed for arthritis and rheumatism.
TIP- To help cure arthritis and Rheumatism drink some Aloe Vera juice daily. Another helpful tip is to chew pieces of the fresh leaf to cure internal diseases.
3. Anti Aging effects:-
With age our skin looses its elasticity and starts to sag, leaving behind fine lines and wrinkles. Aloe Vera contains antioxidants, beta carotene, vitamin C and E all of which help keep the skin hydrated and firm.
TIP- Cut a fresh leaf of Aloe Vera and rub the sap on your washed and cleaned face before going to bed every night for best results.
4. Natural Moisturizer:-
Aloe Vera moisturizes the skin by seeping deep in the layers of epithelium, therefore the skin doesn’t feel greasy.
TIP- Men can use Aloe Vera gel as an aftershave treatment as its healing properties can treat small cuts caused by shaving. Women should apply some Aloe Vera gel before applying your makeup, as it prevents the skin from drying.

Aloe Vera contains a lot of vitamins and minerals, the deficiency of what is a huge cause of hair fall. Use aloe vera gel to treat the areas of the scalp that are going bald. Aloe vera contains an enzyme that helps promote new hair growth for some people. The gel can be applied directly to the scalp, as aloe vera typically has no side effects.
TIP- Make an aloe Vera shampoo. When combined with wheat germ oil and coconut milk, aloe Vera gel makes a shampoo to promote hair growth. Use the shampoo as often as you wash your hair.
7. For your eyelashes:-
Everyone wants thick, dense, long eyelashes. The huge amount of minerals in Aloe Vera help keep the lashes long and dense.
TIP- Mix some Aloe Vera gel with a tea-spoon of black castor oil. Store it in a small container and apply it at the roots of your lashes everyday before going off to bed.
